The need for affordable housing in our communities is alarming. According to 2019 State of the Nation’s
Housing report: Lack of affordable housing, a report featured on the Habitat for Humanity International
website by Robert Hickey, Director of Housing Policy Development and Analysis at Habitat for Humanity
International:
“More than 18 million households — 1 in 6 — are paying more than half of their income on housing
and are considered severely cost-burdened. The largest share of these households includes 9.5 million renters earning less than $30,000 per year and 5.4 million homeowners earning less than $30,000.”
Habitat for Humanity partners with people in our community, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With your support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families.
